CryoBioPhysica is a privately owned biotech research company based in Maryland and originally engaged in basic protein and low temperature stress research. The company has developed novel and powerful methods for anion, cation and combined ion exchange chromatography, collectively called pISep, facilitating controllable formation of wide ranging external pH gradients on most ion exchangers and reversed phase columns and also controllable in the presence of salt, urea or acetonitrile.

pISep has broad applications in the field of chromatographic fractionation and purification of charged biological molecules, especially proteins. It provides better resolution, much more flexibility, and a less costly substitute for chromatofocusing,  and is generally superior to ion exchange chromatography utilizing salt gradient elution.
